Hiring Our Heroes

If it’s your job to attract quality tech talent for your organization, you know just how competitive today’s marketplace can be. That’s why Hiring Our Heroes offers the Next Step Vets program to employment partners.

Transitioning service members, veterans, and military spouses have the tech skills, soft skills, and diverse experience making them a desirable talent pool for numerous industries.

Employer participation in Next Step Vets is simple. Barrett Wright is your contact. Every day, she is referring candidates with up-to-date tech skills and certifications to training programs, events, and direct-hire opportunities at employers looking to hire tech talent. And she’s ready to work with you.

“I can direct a pipeline of candidates to you for any technical training and apprenticeship programs you may have. I can also look for candidates to refer to you for any entry- to mid-level career opportunities,” Wright said.

Energized By Helping Job Seekers Work in Tech

For Wright, Next Step Vets is her passion.

Before joining Hiring Our Heroes, Wright worked with the transition assistance program at Hurlburt Field’s Airman and Family Readiness Center in Florida. She was also a military spouse employment program manager.

“Through that experience, I realized I was most energized when I was assisting service members and spouses find work in tech,” she said.

Wright researched programs offered by HOH like the Salesforce Fellowship Program and Career Forward. She found other apprenticeships and training programs available to veterans and military spouses.

“Programs like Salesforce are such amazing opportunities, so I wanted to learn more. It led me down a rabbit hole, and I created a resource guide consisting of tech training, certifications and employment opportunities based on my research,” Wright said.

No Need to Wait for a Virtual Hiring Fair

Wright now shares that passion of tech jobs with others. In January, more than 700 job seekers and 32 employers participated in the Hiring Our Heroes’ Technology and Cybersecurity Virtual Hiring Fair. During the event, Wright promoted Next Step Vets and the program’s benefits for job seekers and employers.

If you are an employer and you are interested in learning more about Next Step Vets, you don’t have to wait until the next Technology and Cybersecurity Virtual Hiring Fair on May 15. By collaborating with Wright, you can find qualified candidates for open roles at your organization today.
