Military Spouse Employment & Wellbeing Partner Toolkit

Military Spouse Wellbeing Survey > Survey Toolkit

In an effort to understand the impact of unemployment and underemployment on the mental health and wellbeing of military spouses, particularly in the midst and aftermath of a global pandemic, Hiring Our Heroes recently launched the Military Spouse Employment and Wellbeing Survey. In collaboration with the Institute for Veterans and Military Families and powered by Starbucks, this groundbreaking research will be used to educate decision-makers and employers on the unique mental health and wellbeing challenges military spouses face and will make recommendations on resources that are well suited to support them on their employment journey.

Our goal is for this survey to reach as many military spouses as possible during the survey period (June 22 to July 10) and that’s why we are asking for your help. To encourage survey participants, Hiring Our Heroes developed this toolkit. In this kit, you will find sample posts and graphics you can use on your social media channels. If you have any comments or questions about this toolkit, you can reach us at HOHCommunications@uschamber.com. Thank you for your support.

Dear _____________,

As you know COVID-19 has impacted American businesses and the obstacles to employment will continue to grow as our country recovers. What you might not know is that prior to the pandemic, military spouses faced unemployment rates of 24%, nearly eight times higher than their civilian peers. The economic crisis resulting from the pandemic will create additional challenges to military spouse job seekers, and these challenges may impact their wellbeing and mental wellness.
