It’s a Tough Nut to Crack; Somebody Has to Take the Lead and Make It Happen

Hiring and retaining top talent can truly be a tough nut to crack, but these individuals are formally committed to leading the way. Join Prudential’s Jim Beamesderfer as he discusses the innovative overseas initiatives Prudential has taken on to tackle military spouse employment issues overseas. Stay tuned as U.S. Army veteran, Frank Stanley and U.S. Marine veteran, Tom Dowd with Cushman & Wakefield go for a deep-dive into their veteran and corporate fellowship programs at Cushman & Wakefield.  Learn more about the work of our MSEAC and VEAC members here.

Top Takeaways from It’s a Tough Nut to Crack; Somebody Has to Take the Lead and Make It Happen:

1. Prudential is leading the way in military spouse employment initiatives and they encourage other companies to join their efforts.

“We look at this as a point of collaboration, not competition.” –Jim Beamesderfer, Vice President, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial

2. As more organizations make veteran and military spouse employment a priority, the unemployment rate in the military community will decrease.

“If we can get other companies to do this as well, then we’re hiring more vets, we’re hiring more spouses, and we’re doing more good across this space for a population who really deserves it.” –Jim Beamesderfer, Vice President, Veterans Initiatives, Prudential Financial

3. By participating in the Corporate Fellowship Program at Cushman & Wakefield, fellows have the opportunity to learn about the organization and what the position expectations are before starting full-time.

“The Corporate Fellowship Program is a fantastic opportunity for us to teach and look at individuals that are transitioning out of the military and take the scariness out of that soldier, sailor or airmen’s transition.”– Frank Stanley, Veteran Recruitment & Program Manager, Cushman & Wakefield

4. The Corporate Fellowship Program allows the transitioning service member and their family to know what to expect in the corporate sector.

“It makes their transition easier, not just for them, but their entire family.”– Tom Dowd, Veterans Initiative Program Coordinator, Cushman & Wakefield
