Serving a Military Community that Deserves an Opportunity

Our employment partners often look for innovative practices to improve their military talent hiring and retention rates.

During their searches, they may find an employer that implemented a program equally beneficial to their company. In this case, the two companies may choose to collaborate through a mutually beneficial partnership.

On this episode of the HOH Sitrep podcast, Jim Beamesderfer, Vice President of Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial, discusses Prudential’s partnership with Salesforce. Listen in as Beamesderfer explains how companies, like Prudential, struggle to find job candidates with Salesforce training and how military spouses and veterans can connect with the Vetforce Alliance to receive free Salesforce training.

Top Takeaways from “Serving a Military Community that Deserves an Opportunity”

1. Prudential is a member of Salesforce’s Vetforce Alliance. Vetforce gives service members and military spouses access to self-paced technical training with Trailhead, Salesforce’s free online learning platform.

“Salesforce is a skillset that’s in demand. A lot of large and small companies are using Salesforce technology and what they don’t have is people to fill those roles.” – Jim Beamesderfer, Vice President, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial

2. Part of this initiative’s goal is to create a movement that drives additional companies to hire veterans and military spouses.

“We only have so many jobs (and) there’s a lot of great talent out there. We can’t hire them all, but we can help other companies hire them.” – Jim Beamesderfer, Vice President, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial

3. The military community deserves employment opportunities.

“The way we look at it is if we can help military spouses or transitioning service members find a career that is best for them, we win. Ideally, some of those are going to be working for Prudential. But we often partner with other companies if we think (the job candidate) is better suited to work for some other organization. We’ll do the referral and the handoff to them.” – Jim Beamesderfer, Vice President, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial

4. Prudential looks for opportunities to collaborate and partner with organizations.

“We don’t have to be the ones that invent the next great thing. Sometimes we are the catalyst. It’s about how can we make these programs better and get the military talent into the careers that they deserve.” – Jim Beamesderfer, Vice President, Veterans Initiatives at Prudential Financial
