Join over 50 companies at Hiring Our Heroes - Phoenix AZ on April 25, 2013 at the Phoenix Campus of the University of Phoenix - 1625 West Fountainhead Parkway, Tempe, AZ. This hiring fair is taking place alongside the University of Phoenix’s Start Strong event.

Walk-ins are allowed but pre-registration is strongly encouraged.
This fair is a FREE hiring fair for employers and members of our military community - veterans, active duty service members, members of the guard and reserves, and military spouse and other family members. Refreshments will be served.

In addition to the hiring fair, the Start Strong event also features:

Preparing for a successful career requires professional planning and guidance. Hiring Our Heroes and University of Phoenix are teaming up to host a complimentary event that will help veterans, active-duty service members and their families prepare for professional success after the military. 

Highlights of the Start Strong Event

  • A panel discussion on successful career planning with military experts and University of Phoenix military alumni.
  • Workshop from Phoenix Career Services that offers tips and tools on career planning.
  • Networking session featuring employers and industry association representatives.
  • Community resources and online tools presentation by the American Red Cross.

This University of Phoenix-sponsored hiring event is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS), the Arizona Committee of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Arizona Department of Employment Security, The American Legion, NBC News, and other local partners.

University of Phoenix Employment Workshop

The University of Phoenix employment workshop consists of a classroom session beginning one hour prior to the hiring fair followed by HR professionals conducting one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered participants.  Mentoring sessions focus on resume building; resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veteran and service member participants.

Interested candidates must complete the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate.  A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for the full workshop.  Once the pre-registered candidates have their coaching sessions, the opportunity may be available for “walk ins” to have a coaching session through the end of the Fair (depending on availability).  Please sign up here.

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with Military.com to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
