Join us on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Augusta Armory for Hiring Our Heroes – Augusta, ME, which will feature employers with available positions, on-site interviews, and career resources. Recruiters and hiring managers from local and national companies will be interviewing veterans, active duty military, members of the National Guard and reserve components, and military spouses for current openings across all sectors. This event is FREE for employers and job seekers.

This hiring event is being conducted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation; local Chambers of Commerce; the Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment &Training Service (DOL VETS); Maine Committee, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR); the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs; The American Legion; NBC News, and other local partners.

Hiring Our Heroes Employment Workshop

The Hiring Our Heroes employment workshop consists of a classroom session beginning one hour prior to the hiring fair. This will be followed one-on-one mentoring sessions with all pre-registered and walk-in participants to be conducted throughout the day.  Mentoring sessions focus on resume building, resume writing, and interviewing techniques for all job-seeking veterans and service member participants.

Interested candidates must complete the FREE electronic pre-registration in order to participate.  A maximum of 50 participants will be accepted for the full workshop.  Once the pre-registered candidates have their coaching sessions, the opportunity may be available for “walk ins” to have a coaching session through the end of the Fair (depending on availability).

Online Tools for Veterans and Spouses

Hiring Our Heroes has launched an online partnership with to complement our face to face hiring fair efforts across the country.  Veterans can get help writing resumes and interview tips; translating military skills, experience, and training into related civilian careers; and finding current lists of employment opportunities with military-friendly employers.
