Alaska Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve in partnership with Wells Fargo, Hero 2 Hired, and the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development will host Alaska’s first Military Employment Symposium on Wednesday, May 01, 2013.  The symposium is dedicated as a “Hiring Event” for veterans, service members, spouses, dependents, and Guard and Reserve who are serious about finding a career.  The event will be held at the Egan Center, 555 West 5th Avenue in Anchorage from 8:00am to 3:00pm with over 100 participating employment, training and service providers.   All participating employers will have active job openings at the time of the event.  Highlights include workshops dedicated to helping our guests turn a job fair into a job offer, and a computer lab hosted by the Alaska Society of Human Resources Management for on-line applications and last minute resume tweaking.

Because of our generous sponsors including Wells Fargo, Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Hero 2 Hired, and other local partners, there is no fee for employers.  Registration is required and space is limited.

Employers from the 2012 Hiring Our Heroes event offered provisional/conditional job offers to 93 veterans and predicted an additional 450 hires.  We’re hoping for the same success from this event!  Employers interested in participating who will have job openings for veterans, transitioning military members, Guard or Reserve members, and military spouses and/or dependents at the time of the event may contact the Business Connection at the Anchorage Job Center:  907-269-4777 or email anchorage.employers@alaska.gov
